In September we once again held our annual Founding Day Awards Assembly. Our first Founding Day was held in 1992 when we followed a suggestion from the Old Girls' Association, that the school recognise some of its former students who have made outstanding contributions in their fields of endeavour. Since then, apart from a short break during Covid, each year we have honoured three of our Old Girls. They are all featured on our Community webpage. This year, we were honoured to acknowledge, Rosemary Mose, Deputy Chief Executive Pasifika NZQA; Kendal Collins, Founder and CEO of the Sisters United and Young Queens; both organisations which do amazing work with young women and, latterly young men in schools and, although she couldn't be here in person, Kendal's sister and renowned choreographer and dancer, Parris Goebel, zoomed in on video from the States to say hello. In addition, four of our current students in Years 11, 12 and 13 and Kahurangi, who were chosen by their Deans received awards of $500 each, kindly provided by the Old Girls' Trust. |
